In addition to known effective cancer treatments used at the Phoebe Cancer Center, many leading-edge medicines and technologies offer new hope to our patients in their battle with the disease.
IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy): IMRT is an advanced form of radiation therapy that is more accurate and allows doctors to use higher dosages of cancer-killing radiation. IMRT is particularly effective against prostate cancer. Learn more about IMRT.
Prostate Brachytherapy: Also known as radioactive seed therapy, brachytherapy is a recent development that allows doctors to surgically implant "seeds" of low-dose radioactive material around cancerous tissue. The patient actually carries his treatment around with him, and damage to adjacent organs is minimized. Learn more about prostate brachytherapy.
Clinical Trials: The Phoebe Cancer Center is a site for research and testing of new potentially life-saving cancer treatments. The trials may involve a new medicine or they can test a new use for an existing treatment. All offer new hope for a cure. Learn more about clinical trials at Phoebe.
